Preparing for Surgery

If you are booked for nail surgery with us, please read below for some helpful preparation tips

  • Cease taking blood thinners at least 24-48hrs prior to surgery (with GPs approval)
  • Take a panadol about 30 minutes prior to procedure
  • Bring jandals/sandals as shoes will not be able to go on foot following surgery (large dressing)
  • Bring a driver/support person – you will not be able to drive home.
  • If you are feeling nervous about the local anaesthetic, please bring some music to listen to or a support person to distract you.
  • Music – we have a speaker in the surgical room & are happy to play your choice of music over this. We would recommend something relaxing!
  • Taking vitamin C following surgery will help with wound healing.
  • Having a snack/meal prepared at home for after surgery is a good idea, clients are often quite hungry following the procedure.
  • Bring the surgical consent form with you (you will have a hard copy from your practitioner or a soft copy emailed to you).
  • When going home in the care following the procedure, please sit in the back seat with your leg up next to you.
  • It is a good idea to have some books, movies, TV shows lined up for when you get home, so you can get home and go straight to the couch and put your foot up.
  • Questions/concerns: feel free to email or call your clinician prior to your surgery, it is important you feel well informed and comfortable with the procedure.
